4 Tips for Selecting a Protein Bar

  1. Ensure that the bar has at least 20 grams of protein. If you are looking to build muscle, 20+ grams of protein is said to give muscles an extra protein synthesis boost.
  2. Pay attention to the amount of sugar. If you’re eating protein bars as part of a weight loss program, you will want to select a protein bar that has less sugar.
  3. Look for protein bars with whey, which contains proteins and amino acids that serve as building blocks for strength and muscle enhancement.
  4. Less is more. Like so many health foods, the less ingredients in a protein bar the better. If a protein bar has a number of those crazy ingredients that you cannot pronounce, you may want to consider a different bar.
